Day 180 and 181 - Finally moved in!!!!!!

And here are pictures from our move in....what a mess! I'm not going to say much since we obviously have a ton of work to do. Enjoy!

Day 176 - Hardwood Complete

All of us (minus Carrie) got a chance to stop by the house on Wednesday night to see the finished hardwood. They did an awesome job! Plus the fireplace is now working... Enjoy!

Day 173 - Starting to pack

With less than a week to go before we get to move in, packing time has begun. Fortunately most of our stuff is packed (in storage right now), but there still is several things to pack before moving day. While packing things up,  I came across some camping knives that we found right after they excavated our lot in the very beginning. I believe I mentioned that early in my blog postings and noted that this area used to be a girl scout campground. It's kind of neat to find some history where our house is going. I meant to post a picture several months ago. And as we get things ready to move, we have a line of very strong thunderstorms headed our way...in mid-November! Praying that it doesn't do any damage!

Day 172 - Hardwood Finishing

Starting today (Saturday) and lasting until this Wednesday, we will not be allowed in our house due to the finishing of the hardwood floors. I was at the house today installing the post for the mailbox and the hardwood guys were there putting a coat of stain down. I asked if I could sneak a peak before they left (I thought they would say no) but was able to snap one quick picture of the dining room and hallway. After they left and the house was locked up, I went up on the deck to snap a few more from outside. Luckily they left some lights on so you could see things pretty well.

Now the installing of the mailbox post is another fun story. I encountered so many rocks trying to dig a two foot deep hole. I would literally dig a few inches down and would have to work on getting another rock out of the hole. While working on this I had two separate neighbors offer tools and help so I could finish digging. With extra shovels and nice hefty spud bar, I finally got the hole dug. It cost me over an hour, plus blisters and working in the dark, but I finally got the post cemented in and the hole covered in dirt. One less thing we have to do before we move in (which is scheduled for November 23rd)...

Inside sneak peak.

Day 165 - Scripture Verses on the Floor

This weekend we took the kids over to the house to write scripture verses on the floors. (They could also draw pictures and write other things.  Sami wrote all over her floor!)  It was a great reminder to us to keep GOD the focal point in our lives.

Family room:
"I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11

Jamie's office:
Colossians 3:23
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters

Basement:
Proverbs 24:3
By wisdom a house is built,
    and through understanding it is established;

Basement:
Isaiah 40:31
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

Basement:
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Steps (each step says one word) going from basement to main floor:
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15

Steps going from main floor to the upstairs:
Psalm 119:105
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.

Alli's room

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
