Day 150 - Driveway Pouring, Trim and Door Painting; Day 154 - Deck, Siding, and Plumbing Fixtures

It has been several days since we have posted anything. I was out of town last week and not a ton of big things have happened until the past few day. One big thing that we are dealing with right now is our laundry room issue. The cabinet design does not match our washer and dryer or any other washer and dryer for that matter. We have a garbage can drawer that you couldn't even open. So it's back to the drawing board for that...new cabinets and countertop has been ordered today and should be here in two weeks. So I am guessing that will push off our move in date to the week of November 18th...the week of my birthday. We shall see...

Here are some pictures from day 150 and further down from day 154. We happened to drive by after we took the kids to school the day after I got back from Missouri. We got to see them pouring the driveway and some progress on the deck and interior trim painting. Pics below:

Very clever way to paint a bunch of doors...

On day 154, I ran up to the house to see if some screws that I bought for the vanity hardware would work and got to see some more progress. Toilets in, most plumbing fixtures installed except for the kitchen and half baths. I got some more detailed pictures of the stone along with the driveway and sidewalks. They currently have some breaks in the sidewalk so the bull dozer can get back for final grading. Also have pictures of the siding finally put on the back and more deck updates. Enjoy!

Gap in sidewalk to allow bull dozer access to the yard.

I'm guessing this is the water access?

Stone, Appliances, Deck

Things are really continuing to move along in the house!  So far this week, they put stone up and several faucets have been installed.  The painter has also been here all week - he's quite a funny guy.  He's been painting the trim this week.  Appliances were delivered Monday, the day our builder told us to have them delivered.  I came home wanting to cry!  The refrigerator wouldn't fit through the mudroom door and the front door was inaccessible at the time.  There are no electric outlets for the range, microwave, or dishwasher.  There are cords, just no outlets :)  We eventually learned that was ok - they will be installed later.  Here are some pictures of the progress.....

The refrigerator...just sitting in the garage

Washer and Dryer - they are too tall to have the counter top go over top of them.  I'm just hoping they move back far enough to be able to open the trash cabinet to the side of them.

Utility Sink in the laundry room - the hole needs to be cut a little bigger so it will fit right

Microwave - hasn't even made it out of the box

It's COLD in the house!

Day 143 - Stair Railing Finished and Other Details

All of the rails are complete now and we think they look awesome! We love the dark stain on the banister and newel posts! This is the same color that will be on our hardwood floors. The pictures below are from Saturday, but we did stop in during the day on Friday to figure out what kind of towel and toilet paper holders we needed for our bathrooms (which turns out to be a bit tricky in our bathroom). We got to talk to the painter (who was a very nice guy) as he was painting the trim while we were there. All of the doors were off upstairs and it looked like all of the nail holes were puttied in the trim. Stone was supposed to start this past Friday and they were supposed to work through the weekend but they were finishing up a job and then it rained on Saturday. So we will see when they actually start...only supposed to take 2 days to do it. The appliances will get delivered this Monday. We are thinking that we have about 3 weeks to go until we are ready to move in. We are getting so excited and are starting to feel the reality set in.

Here is a list of what is left to do:

  1. Stain hardwood
  2. Finish painting all trim and doors and put a second coat on the walls (including us going back in to paint the kids rooms and the laundry room)
  3. Install carpet
  4. Install faucets
  5. Install cabinet hardware
  6. Install bath towel rings and toilet paper holders
  7. Finish installing light fixtures
  8. Install other laundry room countertop
  9. Install appliances
  10. Finish central van install (my job)
  11. Wire up ethernet cable jacks (my job too)
  12. Finish installing the central air for the house
  13. Install outlet covers
  14. Pedestal sinks and toilet install
  15. Install stone
  16. Install siding
  17. Build deck
  18. Pour the driveway, front porch, and sidewalks
  19. Final grading of our yard
  20. Seeding the yard

Crown molding on cabinets.

Granite, Mantel, and Vanity Counters

What a fun day at the house today!  Lots of interior things are going on, but I thought the most exciting today was granite :)  Sure makes the kitchen look good.  Other things that happened today were: banisters cut, newel posts put up, bathroom and laundry counter tops installed, and the mantel was put up.  It's so much fun watching everything come together!
Woo-hoo!  Kitchen granite!

Mantel - still needs to be painted

This also shows the stain color we chose - Jacobean
